The Shields and Soka-tiras (Tug-o-war) were executed
following the transition from oil in 1996, and prior to
the development of recent works in graphite, crayon,
pastel on gesso.
The Soka-tira theme was also treated
in oils. A series of Shields
in oil were destroyed. The only
existing Shields were executed in charcoals (see below).
